Worshiping To The Right Beat

Each Sunday morning, we worship God our Father and Jesus our Lord in songs and hymns.  I’m amazed at how much worship music is enhanced by the addition of a drummer.  “A drummer will take a more rhythmic approach to songs, providing beats and rhythms to benefit those songs (This Is Why Drummers Are So Important In A Band | AboutDrumming.com.)” A drummer adds a “Feel” to the rhythmic and musical quality that a drummer imparts to their playing.  Feel is about the  overall emotional impact of the drumming.  Just like a good drummer adds the right beat to our music.  We are blessed at New City East Side to have talented people to lead us in worship and a talented drummer in Mike Fields.  Worshiping to the right beat requires more than good talent.  The true worship of our God and savior also requires “the right beat.”  Jesus said this in John 4:24. “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." The right beat in worship starts with having the right spirit connected to biblical truth.  When that rhythm is in sync it leads to an awesome reverence for our Lord and savior, repentant hearts, joyful hearts, and or an attitude of gratitude.  The Holy Spirit is our drummer and He helps us to keep the beat by worshiping in Spirit and in truth.  So often we equate good worship with simply good songs played by talented people.  Worship is far more than that.  Worshiping to the right beat means that we bring our hearts, and minds in sync to the biblical truths about our awesome Lord and Savior.

We thank Mike for helping us to keep the right beat in worship.  Even more my desire is that we keep the right beat in worship by worshiping in Spirit and in truth.
